New Sincerest: 6/24/24

Mid-tempo and moody dance and electronica from yesteryear and beyond.

The New Sincerest begins its regular time slot at KHOI 89.1FM in Ames, Iowa with a set of mid-tempo and moody dance and electronica from yesteryear and beyond. Inspired by “Double”, the great new single by New York City based group Wet, this episode reflects on how synths, BPMs, vocal distortion, and ambient soundscapes can be just as emotive and thoughtful as singer-songwriter fare. Check out the slow-burning torch song “Teardrop” by Massive Attack feat. Elizabeth Fraser, the heartbreaking Sophie tribute “So I” by Charli xcx, the propulsive “Gentle Heart” by Nabihah Iqbal, and more!

(Quick note: the first three songs of this set were cut off from recording due to a technical difficult; Spotify hyperlinks to those songs will be included in the tracklist).
