NEW SINCEREST: 2/17/25

While I’ve been revisiting the latest draft of my thesis for my MFA in Creative Writing program, a collection of essays, poems, stories and scripts reflecting on the arts, I’ve been returning to the band Drab Majesty, a darkwave group largely known for their performance aesthetic (blonde platinum bobs and blackout sunglasses and tailored matching suits) and for their emotionally potent take on ‘80s goth sounds. With this group in mind, this week’s show focuses on gothic pop and alternative rock, a subgenre of music defined by its moodiness, its darkness, its romanticism, and its atmosphere.
